This blog is written (very sporadically so far!) by Dr Debby Cotton, Head of Educational Development with Pedagogic Research at the University of Plymouth. All views are my own not those of my employer. I'm new to all this so do please comment/ advise. You can also follow me on Twitter where I am known as Dcotton11 or look at my university web-page: http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/staff/dcotton

The return (somewhat less sceptical?)
Well, it appears that I am back, almost 4 years after starting this blog - and with quite a lot more educational technology experience under my belt! In the intervening time, I have gained an iPhone and an addiction to Twitter and Facebook, and I have also read quite a few posts on other people's blogs so I guess that I may have started to see the point a little more. What I'd like to do now is change the title of this blog and start posting some more interesting things which I could then link to from my Twitter account... It would be nice to feel that readership goes beyond close work colleagues and members of my family. The interesting issue is whether I am actually able to write something which is not a research paper and which is longer than 140 characters as my interest in Twitter has made me wonder whether I've started to think in 'tweets'! Does anyone else do that? You're doing something and yet at the same time, you're thinking 'that would make a good tweet'? But I guess that one thing about Twitter is that it has made me more used to writing things without having to spend hours editing and referencing them. My other writing experience is almost all aimed at peer reviewed journals or occasional book chapters so I'm hoping that this blog will free me up to do some less intense writing. We'll see!
